Meet the team

Volunteers

The lads who give up their time to lead walks, welcome new faces and keep sessions going.

I first started walking just after lockdown, having followed @talkhub_ grow online, and started walking as a volunteer over four years ago.

It's great to be out and about with like-minded people. We have quite a large group of regular walkers, but it's lovely to meet new lads. We've walked locally, been into the Peak District and even linked up with Carlisle United, walking from the city to the ground together. We've had overnight stays and social events too.

I enjoy walking anyway, but walking with others is a lot more interesting.

My name's Phil and I have been part of the TalkHub volunteer team for nearly 2 years now.

I first came across TalkHub in 2022 when I took part in a 10 week boxing program, and I just loved what Jay, Blaney and the team were all about.

I found that TalkHub then fast became a large part of my out of work social calendar, it was really cathartic to be around fellas that all had a story to tell, just like myself. I really feel like I have made some mates for life since I have been a part of TalkHub.

What Jay and TalkHub offers Men across the Northwest is priceless in my opinion, and I couldn't express enough what an absolute privilege it is to be able to be there and offer support to the fellas that come and take part in the vast range of activities that are organised by Jay and the team.

It's brilliant to see simple games of footy, group walk and talks, boxing and activities such as Go-Ape bring the young lad out in the grown man that might just feel they have perhaps lost their way a bit. Sometimes, it's as simple as needing to just be around other blokes who “get” them and accept them for who they are in an encouraging and relaxed but safe setting.

No matter what your story is, give TalkHub a chance, you won't be disappointed.
